PC Fair Singapore 2011 |
Every year, around this time, thousands upon thousands of people challenge the load restriction at the Suntec City Expo halls in their bid to find the best deals on gadgets.
A straw poll conducted by Lines Exposition and Management Services, the organiser of the PC Show, revealed that portable devices such as tablet PCs, netbooks and laptops top the wishlist, with PCs, smartphones, mobile phones and cameras following close behind.
The study also found that 90 per cent of respondents will do their research online, as well as get their friends' feedback - on top of their usual checks with retailers - before setting off for the venue.
Lines Exposition and Management Services said the straw poll consisted of potential customers and exhibitors and was done to get a quick feel of customer buying sentiments.
Also upbeat about the show are the exhibitors, as many prepare for a deluge of people looking to upgrade or replace previous electronics. Mr Oscar Tan, marketing communications and public relations manager (South-east Asia and Hong Kong) for OKI Data Singapore said: "We are confident that sales will be good. In fact, sales over the last two years were good even though there was an economic recession. Now that the difficult period is over, we expect sales to be better. Anyway, at The PC Show, everyone is always buying something."
Mr Tan also expects some Singaporeans who have received their Grow and Share dividends from the Government to use the money to buy electronic or IT gadgets.
Ms Tan May Lin, general manager, Epson Singapore added: "Yes, we expect greater spending. The interest in digital photography has been strong in the past few years and has not subsided. This will continue to drive high sales for cameras and related accessories like photo printers and camera bags in events like the PC Show.
"This is also the first PC Show to have a much larger number of recently launched tablet computers, in addition to Apple's new iPad 2. We expect these to play a significant role in increasing sales," she continued.
With the PC Show taking up four floors at Suntec Singapore, encompassing four sections - The PC Show 2011; Digital Imaging 2011; Game 2011 and Consumer Electronics 2011, everyone who attends the show is expected to cart home a trolley full of goodies - making the crush well worth it.
