On March 8, 2013 something great took place: I presented my new work - the piece I made i collaboration with artist Artem Mirolevich - at the Russian Pavilion NY inaugural edition in conjunction with Armory Arts Week NYC 2013.
The work is called "PB Oil Spill" and was, in fact, created specifically for the exhibition. The explosion of an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico was a huge disaster ... I remember the impression it had on me when all this happened. I couldn't get over the images of pelicans and dolphins covered in oil. It was important to not just do another pretty dress but place the emphasis on the concept. Sort of a protest in a way. To collaborate with Artem Mirolevich was an ultimate honor. In addition to being a wonderful person, Artem, is a phenomenal artist with a unique, three-dimensional vision. I was blown away the moment I saw his wire sculptures. We have long wanted to do a joint project, and then, finally, came up a perfect opportunity.
